In this paper, we discuss the solution of an Inverse Eigenvalue Complementarity Problem. Two nonlinear formulations are presented for this problem. A necessary and sufficient condition for a stationary point of the first of these formulations to be a solution of the problem is established. On the other hand, for assuring global convergence to a solution of this problem when it exists, an enumerative algorithm is designed by exploiting the structure of the second formulation. The use of additional implied constraints for enhancing the efficiency of the algorithm is also discussed. Computational results are provided to highlight the performance of the algorithm.

Ramos, Tania Rodrigues Pereira, Maria Isabel Gomes, and Ana Paula Barbosa-póvoa. "Planning a sustainable reverse logistics system: balancing costs with environmental and social concerns." Omega. 48 (2014): 60-74. Abstract

The present work aims to support tactical and operational planning decisions of reverse logistics systems while considering economical, environmental and social objectives. In the literature, when addressing such systems economical aspects have been often used, while environmental concerns have been only recently emerging. The social component is the one less studied, and rarely the combination of the three concerns has been analyzed. This work address the three objectives and was motivated by the challenge of supporting decisions makers when managing a real case study of a recyclable waste collection system, where strategic decisions on the number and location of depots, vehicles and containers were taken beforehand. Tactical and operational decisions are studied involving the establishment of service areas for each depot and the definition and scheduling of collection routes for each vehicle. Such decisions should represent a compromise solution between the three objectives considered and support a sustainable reverse logistics plan. A multi-objective solution approach based on mixed-integer linear programming models is developed. Trade-offs between the objectives are discussed. Moreover the solutions obtained when each objective is tackled individually are compared between themselves and with the balanced solution.

This technical report describes the research goals and results of the SpreadSheet as a Programming Paradigm research project. This was a project funded by Funda{\c c}ão para a Ciencia e Tecnologia – FCT: the Portuguese research foundation, under reference FCOMP-01-0124-FEDER-010048, that ran from May 2010 till July 2013. This report includes the complete document reporting the results achieved during the project execution, which was submitted to FCT for evaluation on October 2013. It describes the goals of the project, and the different research tasks presenting the deliver- ables of each of them. It also presents the management and result dissemination work performed during the project's execution. The document includes also a self assess- ment of the achieved results, and a complete list of scientific publications describing the contributions of the project. Finally, this document includes the FCT evaluation report.

We here present fossil Crocodylomorpha eggshells from the Upper Jurassic Lourinhã Formation of Portugal, recovered from five sites: one nest from Cambelas with 13 eggs, and three partial eggs and various fragments from, Paimogo N (I), Paimogo S (II), Casal da Rola, and Peralta. All specimens but the nest were found in association with dinosaur egg material. Our research reveals that on a micro- and ultrastructural analysis, all samples present the typical characters consistent with crocodiloid eggshell morphotype, such as the shell unit shape, the organization of the eggshell layers, and the triangular blocky extinction observed with crossed nicols. We assign the material from the Lourinhã Formation to the oofamily Krokolithidae, making it the oldest crocodylomorph eggs known so far, as well as the best record for eggs of non- crocodylian crocodylomorphs. Furthermore, our study indicates that the basic structure of crocodiloid eggshells has remained stable since at least the Upper Jurassic.
