The problem of inconsistency between constraints often arises in practice as the result, among others, of the complexity of real models or due to unrealistic requirements and preferences. To overcome such inconsistency two major actions may be taken: removal of constraints or changes in the coefficients of the model. This last approach, that can be generically described as ``model corre\-ction" is the problem we address in this paper in the context of linear constraints over the reals. The correction of the right hand side alone, which is very close to a fuzzy constraints approach, was one of the first proposals to deal with inconsistency, as it may be mapped into a linear problem. The correction of both the matrix of coefficients and the right hand side introduces non linearity in the constraints. The degree of difficulty in solving the problem of the optimal correction depends on the objective function, whose purpose is to measure the closeness between the original and corrected model. Contrary to other norms, that provide corrections with quite rigid patterns, the optimization of the important Frobenius norm was still an open problem. We have analyzed the problem using the KKT conditions and derived necessary and sufficient conditions which enabled us to unequivocally characterize local optima, in terms of the solution of the Total Least Squares and the set of active constraints. These conditions justify a set of pruning rules, which proved, in preliminary experimental results, quite successful in a tree search procedure for determining the global minimizer.

Flexible and large area (5 mm × 80 mm with an active length of 70 mm) position-sensitive detectors (PSDs) deposited onto polymeric substrates (polyimide - Kapton VN) have been fabricated. The optimized structure presented is based on a heterojunction of amorphous silicon (a-Si: H)/ZnO: Al. The sensors were characterized by spectral response, photocurrent dependence as a function of light intensity, and position detection measurements. The set of data obtained on one-dimensional PSDs based on the heterojunction show excellent performances with a maximum spectral response of 0.12 A/W at 500 nm and a nonlinearity of ±10% over 70-mm length. The produced sensors present a nonlinearity higher than those ones produced on glass substrates, due to the different thermal coefficients exhibited by the polymer and the a-Si: H film. In order to prove this behavior, it was measured the defect density obtained by the constant photocurrent method on a-Si: H thin films deposited on polymeric substrates and bent with different radii of curvature. © 2005 IEEE.

The possibility of fabricating high-mobility ZnO thin-film transistors (ZnO-TFT) at room temperature by rf magnetron sputtering was discussed. It was found that the films were nanocrystalline with a hexagonal structure and exhibited a preferred orientation with the c-axis perpendicular to the substrate. The undoped ZnO films exhibited improved crystallinity fraction of the nanocrystals and low oxygen vacancies. Analysis shows that the exposure of the ZnO-TFTs to the ambient light has no effect on the current voltage characteristics.

This work describes the fabrication and characterization of an improved version of large area (5mm×80mm with an active length of 70mm) flexible position sensitive detectors deposited onto polymeric substrates (polyimide-Kapton® VN). The new configuration presented by the sensor is based on a heterostructure of a-Si:H/ZnO:Al. The sensors were characterized by spectral response, photocurrent dependence as a function of light intensity and position detection measurements. The set of data obtained on one-dimensional position sensitive detectors based on the heterostructure show excellent performances with a maximum spectral response of 0.12A/W at 500nm and a non-linearity of ±10% over 70mm length. The produced sensors present a non-linearity higher than those ones produced on glass substrates, due to the different thermal coefficients exhibited by the polymer and the amorphous silicon film. We prove necessary conditions for the Fredholmness of singular integral operators with piecewise continuous coefficients on weighted Banach function spaces. These conditions are formulated in terms of indices of submultiplicative functions associated with local properties of the space, of the curve, and of the weight. As an example, we consider weighted Nakano spaces \(L^{p(\cdot)}_w\) (weighted Lebesgue spaces with variable exponent). Moreover, our necessary conditions become also sufficient for weighted Nakano spaces over nice curves whenever \(w\) is a Khvedelidze weight, and the variable exponent \(p(t)\) satisfies the estimate \(|p(\tau)-p(t)|\le A/(-\log|\tau-t|)\).
