Helena Rocha is a professor at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (Portugal), where she holds a leadership role at the research center EDUNOVA.ISPA. Her research focuses on mathematics teacher knowledge and professional development, with particular emphasis on the integration of technology in teaching and learning.
She is the author of the KTMT model – Knowledge for Teaching Mathematics with Technology (Rocha, 2013, 2020) – and the Global Model (Rocha, 2024, 2025), both developed as theoretical frameworks for analyzing teachers’ professional knowledge in technology-rich environments.
Helena is the principal investigator of the TecTeachers project (funded by FCT), and actively contributes to several other national and international research initiatives. She has published extensively and currently serves as associate editor of Quadrante (ISSN 2183-2838), and as a member of the editorial board of Research in Mathematics Education (ISSN 1479-4802).
In addition to her research and editorial work, she is involved in national and international doctoral education, currently supervising three PhD students at her university and co-supervising two PhD students from Italian universities whose research focuses on teacher development and technology integration.
