for post-doc researcher opportunity position in Portugal via a competitive call at FCT funding agency, the Individual Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus.

Ideally, candidates with h-index higher than 5 and more than 150 citations.

In this case, the host institution is the Department of Earth Sciences of the Nova University of Lisbon.

IMPORTANT DATES
Application period: from January 19 to February 16, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. (Lisbon time)
Period of association of host institutions with applications: from 17 February to 02 March 2018 at 17:00 (Lisbon time)
The Individual Competition is intended for PhDs of any nationality or stateless holders in any scientific area who wish to develop their scientific research or technological development activity in Portugal, integrated in R & D units financed by FCT.

Applicants will first identify the host institution where they will develop their research plan. The doctorates selected are directly contracted by the identified host institution through FCT funding.

Eligibility criteria

The following reference categories are considered:

  • Junior researcher: PhDs with reduced postdoctoral research experience or no scientific curriculum after the PhD in the scientific area to which they are applying.
  • Auxiliary researcher: PhDs for more than 5 years, with a relevant curriculum in the scientific area to which he / she is applying, without a requirement of demonstration of scientific independence.
  • Principal investigator: PhDs for more than 5 years, with relevant curriculum in the scientific area to which he / she is applying, demonstrating scientific independence in the last 3 years.
  • Coordinating researcher: Doctors for more than 5 years, holders of the qualification of skilled or aggregate, with a high merit curriculum in the scientific area to which he is applying, demonstrating scientific independence and with evidence of leadership in the scientific area to which he is applying.

COMPONENTS OF THE APPLICATION
Applications are submitted online via a dedicated FCT web application.
The application comprises the following parts to be evaluated:

  • a) Research plan, including a rigorous selection of the main activities to be developed, the expected results and the clear identification of a mission and scientific challenges, to be considered in the framework of one or more of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (2030 Agenda);
  • b) Synopsis of the scientific and curricular path, highlighting the main activities and results obtained in the last 5 years;
  • c) Curriculum vitae;
  • d) Motivation letter, identifying up to two main contributions of the candidate in the last 5 years and the expected main contributions for the next years;
  • e) Synopsis of the host conditions and description of the integration of the proposed research plan into the strategy of the associated research unit.

The call is open from January 19, 2018 until 17:00 (Lisbon time) on February 16, 2018.

Host institutions should join their applications from 17 February to 02 March 2018 (until 5:00 p.m., Lisbon time).

The applications are submitted electronically, in English, through the electronic platform.

Duration: The duration is up to 6 year according to article 24 of Regulamento deEmprego Científico.
