The Department of Earth Sciences of FCT NOVA has a collaboration in the area of Vertebrate Paleontology with Angola since 2005 through the Projecto PaleoAngola www.paleoangola.com, represented by Prof. Octávio Mateus. This collaboration includes a partnership from Portugal, Angola, USA (Southern Methodist University) and The Netherlands and resulted in the discovery of dozens of new and important vertebrate fossils (dinosaurs, mammals, mosasaurs, etc.). A new temporary exhibition about this collaboration is planned on the Smithsonian Institute, in Washington DC, for November 2018.
