Collecting through Connections

The aim of this conference is to develop knowledge about the art market for historical glass and stained glass during the 19th century, the contacts and network of collectors, the criteria for collecting and the use/display of the objects within the collector's domestic space.

The Stained Glass collection of King Ferdinand II of Portugal – Assembling the puzzle

The aim of this project is a better understanding of the origins and technological characteristics of the stained glass panels of Palácio da Pena. This collection covers several centuries of the stained glass history – from 14th c. to 19th c. – and the study of these extraordinary panels presents a challenge and grand opportunity to better understand the history of this artistic discipline.

VICARTE

The Research Unit VICARTE – Vidro e Cerâmica para as Artes (Glass and Ceramic for the Arts) is devoted to the promotion of transdisciplinary research applied to glass and ceramics, focusing on the intersections between art and science, and stimulating the sharing of knowledge, experiences and methodologies between these two areas.
