Bio

Assistant Professor at Physics Department of Nova University of Lisbon and former Coordinator of the Engineering Physics integrated Master program, for 6+ years.
Holds a PhD degree in Engineering Physics from Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2002). Cryogenic engineering is the main R&D field of interest.

Had several scholarships at the Service des Basses Températures of the Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique (CEA) in Grenoble (France), working with the design of cryocoolers and cryogenic thermal management devices.
In 2009 was Visiting Independent Advisor at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL-NASA/Caltech) and Visitor at Caltech in California, USA, for one semester, also dealing with cryogenic thermal management devices.

Management duties led to a broadening enterprise networking for R&D projects, namely for non-academic opportunities for thesis research. Transdisciplinary activity is being developed in collaboration with external entities while contributing to industrial/economical/societal issues, mainly focused on the energy transition.

Awarded for the pedagogical innovation practices at Nova University of Lisbon, 2022.
