João Macara was born in 1994 in Lisboa, Portugal. He obtained his B.Sc. in Applied Chemistry at Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia – Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 2015 and is his M.Sc. in Bioorganic Chemistry at the same institution in 2017. Currently he is a PhD student under the guidance of Professor M. Manuel B. Marques, and his research focuses on Hypervalent Iodine Reagents.
