Rui Manuel Tavares (born Oeiras, Portugal, 1975) graduated from Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (UNL) in 1998, earning his MSc (2001) and PhD (2010) there. Since 1998, he has taught at FCT/UNL's Department of Electrical Engineering and Computers, where he is an Assistant Professor. He is also a senior Researcher at CTS/UNINOVA.
At UNINOVA, he worked with the GRIS group (1998–2001) and joined the Analog Microelectronics Design Group in 2001, contributing to national and European projects like ESPRIT IV and H2020. His research focuses on analog circuit electronic design automation (EDA/CAD) and low-power, low-voltage analog integrated circuits.
An IEEE member since 2010 (Student since 1998) within the CAS and SSC societies, Prof. Tavares has published multiple papers and a book. He serves as an IEEE reviewer and has co-organized several international conferences and seasonal schools, including ISCAS’15, ESSCIRC’23, AMICSA’25, CAS4IoT’16, CAS4IIoT’18, and AAMSICDesign’25 & AAMSICDesign’26.
