Apresentação de curso na Escola de Verão da FCUL, 2018

A Escola de Verão de Matemática da Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa é dedicada a todos os alunos do primeiro ou do segundo ciclos, que têm um gosto especial pela matemática e que pretendam decidir a continuação dos seus estudos.
Decorre entre os dias 20 e 22 de Junho de 2018 e aberta a todos os interessados.

Apresentarei o curso (de 3 horas) Problemas  de decisão em Álgebra.

Funded Project

The Project "Semigroups: conjugation, computations, crystals and combinatorics" that I lead was proposed for funding by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology.

The paper "Decidability and Independence of Conjugacy Problems in Finitely Presented Monoids" is free available for 50 days.

Open Call for Research Grants

The Portuguese Science Foundation (FCT) has open a call for research positions for PhD holders in all scientific areas (see the website). There are four 4 different types of grants: for junior researchers (PhD within less than five years); auxiliary researchers; princpal researchers; and coordinator researchers.

Postdoctoral awarded with a FCT grant

Tara Brough was awarded with a Pos-doc grant from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. Tara aims to develop new directions in the study of word problems and related topics for groups and semigroups. Together with Alan Cain we will be responsable for the guidance and execution of her project.

PhD student obtains scholarship from FCT

Ricardo Guilherme, a PhD student at FCT-UNL, obtained a PhD grant from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. In the area of mathematics, only 3 scholarships were awarded, with Ricardo being the first. Ricardo is doing the PhD under my guidance and of researcher Alan Cain.
