Joana Bruno

Master

Joana Bruno received her graduate and post-graduate degree in Archaeology from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the New University of Lisbon (FCSH-UNL) and participates in national and international archaeological campaigns since 2006, developing fieldwork, laboratory and illustration.

She began learning Scientific Illustration from Pedro Salgado at IAO (Institute of Arts and Crafts) in Lisbon.

She is currently concluding a Master’s degree in Scientific Illustration at ISEC/UE (Superior Institute of Education and Sciences / Évora University), with the final project entitled "Fossil vertebrates from the Cretaceous and Cenozoic of Angola: science communication and divulgation through scientific illustration", under the supervision of Professor Octávio Mateus and Master Pedro Salgado.

Joana is also an award-winning scientific illustrator and has participated in several group exhibitions both in Portugal and abroad. She is a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators (GNSI) and managing editor of the Journal of Natural Science Illustration.
