Research interests: Habitat and biodiversity management, integrated protection of agricultural and forest cultures, chemical ecology and bio-technological pest management, control of invasive species.  Gender mainstreaming in science.

Teaching: B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. level in ecology, population dynamics and ecosystem management.

Expert evaluator for the European Commission, DG Research, areas of Environment, Forestry, Human Potential, Infrastructures, Strategic Research Policy. European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) [mission statement: to support a coherent approach to policy-making on research infrastructures in Europe, and to act as an incubator for international negotiations about concrete initiatives], delegate of Portugal [2007 – 2011].
