Present Position: Professor of Ecology, Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering, Faculty of Sciences and Technology, New University of Lisbon, PT.

Research interests: Habitat and biodiversity management, integrated protection of agricultural and forest cultures, chemical ecology and bio-technological pest management, control of invasive species.  Gender mainstreaming in science.

 

Teaching: B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. level in ecology, population dynamics and ecosystem management.

European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) [mission statement: to support a coherent approach to policy-making on research infrastructures in Europe, and to act as an incubator for international negotiations about concrete initiatives], delegate of Portugal [2007 – 2011].

Reviewer of several ISI journals and other international publications, e.g. ICCP (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) Review Assessments (2001, 2007); member of the editorial board of Agricultural and Forest Entomology, UK.
