Maria Paula Diogo, nascida em Lisboa em 5 de Maio de 1958.

Licenciada em História, Mestre em Demografia Histórica,  Doutora em Epistemologia das Ciências - História da Ciência e Agregada em História da Tecnologia. Começou a leccionar na Faculdade de Ciência e Tecnologia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, como Assistente Estagiária, em 1986, sendo, desde 2012, Professora Catedrática. Presentemente é Presidente do Departamento de Ciências Socais Aplicadaa e Coordenadora do Pólo UNL do Centro Interuniversitário de História das Ciência e da Tecnologia.

Tendo sido pioneira da área da História da Tecnologia em Portugal, a sua investigação centra-se na História da Tecnologia e Engenharia em Portugal e Colónias (séculos XVIII-XX);História da Ciência em Portugal (séculos XVIII, XIX e XX);Processos de Globalização/Mundialização da Ciência e da Tecnologia (transferência de conhecimentos, redes, relações centro(s)/periferia(s).

Coordena projectos de investigação e é membro de diversas redes de investigação internacionais e ocupa cargos de direcção em revistas e organizações nacionais e internacionais, nomedamente na Society for the History of Technology (SHOT).

 

Maria Paula Diogo, born in Lisbon on May 5, 1958.

BA in History, Master in Historical Demography, PhD in Epistemology of Science - History of Science, and Agregação in History of Technology. She teaches at the Faculty of Science and Technology, New University of Lisbon, since 1986. Presently she is Full Professor, President of the Department of Applied Social Sciences and Head of the Interuniversity Center of History of Science and Technology - Pole UNL.

Having pioneered the field of History of Technology in Portugal, her research focuses on the History of Technology and Engineering in Portugal and Colonies (XVIII-XX centuries); History of Science in Portugal (XVIII, XIX and XX); Processes Globalisation / Globalization of Science and Technology (knowledge transfer, networking, relationships center (s) / peripheral (s).

She coordinates several research projects, is member of several international research networks, and holds leadership positions in magazines and national and international organizations, nomedamente the Society for the History of Technology (SHOT).
