João Pedro Oliveira graduated from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Lisbon, in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), in 1992. He obtained the M.Sc. and the Ph.D. degrees in ECE, respectively, in 1996  from the Technical University of Lisbon and 2010 from Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

He has been with the Department of Electrical Engineering (DEE) of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology (FCT) of UNL, since September 2003 where he is currently an Auxiliar Professor. From 2003 he has been a Senior Researcher at the Micro and Nanoelectronics research Unit from the Centre for Technology and Systems (CTS) at UNINOVA.

In  2003 he co-founded and served, for 7 years, as the CTO (and Board member) of Mobbit Systems SA, a Portuguese engineering company specialized in innovative interactive systems.

His current research interests are on System on Chip (SoC) design for the Internet Of Things (IoT), namely with respect to building blocks for RF integrated transceivers.

Prof. João Pedro Oliveira has several publications in international journals and leading conferences and he is the first author of “Parametric Analog Signal Amplification Applied to Nanoscale CMOS Technologies” (Springer, 2012).
